About NEF

The NAWIC Education Foundation (NEF) was established in 1973 by the National Association of Women in Construction (NAWIC).  NEF is an IRS 501 (c) 3 non-profit organization, which means all donations are deductible as a charitable donation. The Board of Trustees governs the Foundation.

 

Since its inception, NEF has focused on construction education and offers a number of certification programs.   NEF is proud to be named a Quality Education Provider by the American Council for Construction Education (ACCE).

 

Carol A Keuker Award

NAWIC Education Foundation (NEF) has named Linda Thomas-Mobley, PhD, a long-time secondary education leader in construction management, as its 2012 recipient of the Carol A. Kueker Construction Education Visionary Award.  She will be recognized during the Crystal Vision Awards ceremony at NAWIC's 57th Annual Meeting and Educational Conference in Denver September 1, 2012.

Linda Thomas-Mobley is the chair of the Construction Management program at the NewSchool of Architecture and Design in San Diego.  In that role, she has reformed its bachelor of science program to meet the future needs of the construction workforce and let efforts to develop and start the school's fully online master's program in Construction Management.

NEF seeks to recognize on a national level an Educator/Advocate who has a passion for and dedication to Construction Education. This award recognizes a nonmember of the National Association of Women in Construction (NAWIC)  who has worked aggressively to promote Construction as a viable career path through training and education and/or has worked with Associations and other organizations to establish educational programs to advance and benefit employees in the Construction Industry.

 

 

Be a Part of the NEF Team

Ambassador Program

NEF Ambassadors are individuals dedicated to increasing the visibility of NEF.  There are three levels, Gold, Silver Bronze.  

Completion of the items below determines the level of Ambassador.

  • One item - Bronze Pin, Level 1
  • Two items - Silver Pin, Level 2
  • Three items - Gold Pin, Level 3

*Increase visibility of NEF by placing NEF approved website link (supplied by NEF) on multiple construction related websites or publications (i.e. other associations, universities or colleges, companies). 

*Acquire new NEF sponsorship or partner.

*Provide NEF Office with 25 new contacts for solicitations in your geographic area and make follow-up calls on these letters sent out by the NEF office.

*Provide follow-up phone calls and contact on 50 solications sent out by the NEF office.

*Obtain 5 test candidates for adult certificate courses from outside NAWIC.  If you are an Educator, you wil need to get an adult certificate course into your education program to receive this credit.

*Influence a teacher to purchase the Accessory Structure Project to incorporate into their curriculum for students 8-12th grades.

 

Any other noteworthy accomplishments and outcomes to assist NEF in obtaining exposure outside of the NAWIC realm as approved by the NEF Executive Committee.
